A Decade & A Marriage List?!

I made the comment this weekend that "I'm blessed to live a kind of life that I never knew I wanted."  I know it sounds strange, but it's true.

My goals were to get an education, work, get married and have a family, then be a stay at home mom (by age 25 or so lol).  What I ended up with, is an amazing career, friends, independence, lots of travels, etc.  Does it really matter that the life I live is different than the one I "wanted"?

Nope. Not at all.

I believe that everything happens for a reason, and there's a reason that my path is very different than the one I originally had plotted for myself.

Today I was searching through old files to find some old research I worked on back in my Kellogg days.  It's hard to believe that 10 years ago today, I entered the CPG industry!

And so much has changed!  I stumbled on a list that I made on 10/22/2002.

It's a list of "Things to do before I'm married", and here it is...
  1. Eat dinner alone at a restaurant
  2. Go to a movie alone
  3. Buy a house
  4. Live alone
  5. Nanny again
  6. Vacation by myself
  7. Do a spa day with friends
  8. Vacation with friends
  9. Go to Europe!
  10. Get into shape
  11. Buy myself something special (and expensive, like a ring!)
  12. Learn about politics
  13. Get a tattoo
  14. Try eggs poached
  15. Try escargot
  16. Makeout with a spanish-speaking man (in spain?!)
  17. Figure out my stance on religion
So yeah, that's my list - and the awesome thing is, I've done most of them!

Well, minus the get in shape, try poached eggs, and make out with a spanish speaking man in Spain lol

But hey, I'm still not married YET - I have to strive for something, right?!

Anyway, it just made me realize how much I've accomplished over the past 10 years and how proud I am to be turning into a better version of myself.  The point is, it doesn't matter which path gets me to life my best life, as long as I get there!

I'm right where I'm supposed to be.

For now...

And tomorrow, I'm jumping on a plane to California with one of my best friends.  We're celebrating new beginnings - how very appropriate.

I hope I can accomplish just as much in the next decade, as I did in this one!
